Road Trip from NJ to FL?

Im planning on taking a road trip from NJ to FL to check out UNC, UF, uhm the dawsons creek set… (in NC) and a few other things. Any suggestions on sights or how to plan a road trip. Some road trip horror stories would be nice so i know what to avoid.

My husband and I did a road trip form NJ to FL a few years ago. I-95 is always under construction somewhere and Wash. DC is always congested, so we took I-78 out to I-81 in PA all the way down to I-77 just south of Blacksburg, VA. From there you can cut over to Chapel Hill, NC. Google maps is a good website for maps. We took some back roads too and it was interesting to see the “locals” and the “redneck yards of the week!” Have fun and make sure you have a lot of gas money!
